Envirolabs Incorporated was founded in 1992 by Dr. Paul Merolla, Ph.D., P.E. whose doctoral research in the early 90s was done in the area of subsoil migrations of radon. Our company was among the first companies to participate in the original USEPA Radon Proficiency Program and we have been certified by both the American Association of Radon Scientists – National Radon Proficiency Program (AARST-NRPP) and the National Radon Safety Borad (NRSB) since the inception of these programs.
Since early on, our company has provided its services to the leading home inspection companies, real estate companies and environmental consultants throughout the Greater Washington Metro Area. Other clients have included the USFDA, U.S. National Observatory, the Smitsonian Institution, the US Marine Corp Barracks in Washington DC and many other institutions and commercial properties.
Home Inspector Services
In addition to our radon testing services provided in the Washington DC area, our services are now also available through home inspectors and Radon Measurement Professionals nationwide using our proprietary continuous monitor, the breakthrough state-of-the-art NORAD Radon Detection System (TM), the result of many years of research and development.
This server based system allows inspectors the ability to upload the NORAD device and generate results 24/7 concurrent with hourly readings of temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, motion detection and power disconnects.
The Envirolabs - NORAD Standard Atmosphere for Radon (STAR) Chamber
At Envirolabs, quality control is at the heart of all we do. As part of our QA/QC protocols, we are the only company in the area to operate a National Radon Proficiency Program Certified (NRPP) tertiary radon chamber, also known as a “Standard Atmosphere for Radon”.
Operating withing a variable range of 1.0 pCi/L to 30 pCI/L we can test the accuracy of our devices and ensure the reliability of our results.
Participation in Standards Development
In addition to our company’s radon research and development we are also actively involved members of the American Association of Radon Scientists and Tecnologists (AARST).
Consistent with this committement Carlos Avery, Envirolabs Director of Operations was a member of the MS/QA Commitee of the American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST) tasked with the development of the ANSI/AARST MAH 2019 Protocol For Conducting Measurements Of Radon And Radon Decay Products In Homes Standards in use today.
Training Services
Through our norad.training site, we have provided NRPP certifed initial training and continuing education to hundreds of Radon Measurement Professionals nationwide.
